Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources Syed Naveed Qamar informed the Upper House of the Parliament that Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has earned Rs 6,106 million profit during the last three years. Responding to the queries of lawmakers, the minister said that the profit after tax of SNGPL was Rs 2,678 million in 2007, which dropped to Rs 931 million in 2009 and Rs 2,498 million in 2008.

He acknowledged the gas shortage and gas load management vis-a-vis CNG stations and increase in price of the commodity, but said that it had reduced their profit without damaging the business that was why more people were applying for licenses.

Minister for Housing and Works Rehmatullah Kakar informed the House that ministry had awarded possession of 106 newly built quarters in different housing schemes in the Federal Capital.

He said that government servants were entitled to keep houses under possession up to six months after their retirements, but tragically, retired people pursue the courts to get stay orders to avoid vacation. He said that most government quarters were illegally occupied by ICT police officials, however, ministry was pursuing the cases in courts against the illegal occupants.
